Energy & Oil/Gas · HSE compliance monitoring

A site walk finds yesterday's violation. AI sees it the moment it happens.

Banao deploys computer-vision HSE monitoring on the CCTV your site already has — detecting PPE absence, restricted-zone entry, and hot-work rule breaks in real time, not in the next audit cycle.

The system runs as an AI layer on existing cameras and pushes alerts to your control room and permit-to-work system. No new camera hardware, no disruption to site operations during rollout.

What we build

What a Banao HSE monitoring deployment covers

Each detection class maps to a real incident type — a missing hard hat, an operative in an exclusion zone, a gas cylinder moved without a hot-work permit. We configure the model to your site rules, not a generic safety checklist.

PPE detection per work zone

Hard hats, high-visibility vests, safety glasses, and gloves — detected per camera feed, with alert thresholds matched to the PPE rules for that specific zone. Violations flag in real time rather than accumulating in a weekly audit.

Restricted and exclusion zone monitoring

The model tracks movement against the zone boundaries in your site plan. An operative entering a live plant area or a crank-arm swing zone without clearance triggers an alert before contact, not after.

Hot-work and permit-to-work compliance

Computer vision cross-referenced against your active permit-to-work records. A grinder running in a location with no live hot-work permit — or a permit expired mid-shift — surfaces as an alert, not a near-miss report.

Housekeeping and obstruction detection

Blocked fire exits, materials left in evacuation routes, and open access hatches — detected automatically by camera so the site safety officer's attention goes to issues that need a decision, not ones a camera can already see.

Shift compliance dashboard and reporting

A single view across all camera feeds by shift, zone, and violation type. Compliance reports for regulators are generated from the same data the control room watches, rather than assembled manually after the fact.

Incident reconstruction from footage

When a near-miss or incident is reported, the AI indexes the relevant footage with timeline and violation context. Root-cause investigation moves from days to hours, in the format your insurance and regulatory teams need.

Dogfooding

We operate our own company on the AI we build

Banao runs a ~300-person engineering operation on its own AI systems before they reach a client. InterviewGod screens our own engineering candidates every week. Vikaas runs our own demand generation from pipeline to proposal.

A safety monitoring system we build has to meet the same standard: it must earn its keep in production, not just pass a proof-of-concept review. That is the bar we hold our clients' deployments to, because it is the bar we hold ourselves to.

The honest version

When AI HSE monitoring is the wrong fit

We would rather explain the limits before the procurement, not after the deployment:

  • Poor camera coverage: if key risk zones have no camera, or cameras are positioned where the work actually happens is not visible, week one is a camera audit, not an AI build. We will say so before you spend on a model.
  • Rules that change weekly: if what counts as a PPE violation depends on a verbal briefing that morning, a model configured to fixed rules will false-alarm or miss. The compliance definition needs to be stable enough to codify.
  • Very low-traffic sites: a manned site with two people on shift and a supervisor on the floor who can see both of them does not need an AI layer. A camera is cheaper than a model, and we will say so.

How we start

How we start — low commitment, verifiable outcome

Banao does not quote an HSE monitoring deployment from a brochure. We look at your actual camera infrastructure and site rules first.

  1. 01

    AI Discovery Sprint

    2 weeks · fixed price

We audit your existing camera coverage against your HSE rule set, test the model against a sample of your real footage, and hand back a baseline detection accuracy estimate and a go/no-go recommendation — yours regardless of whether you proceed. If you build, the Sprint fee is credited against the project.

  2. 02

    Build

Model configuration to your site rules, zone mapping, and integration with your permit-to-work system and control room. Legacy CCTV infrastructure is the normal case.

  3. 03

    Production & continuous calibration

Live deployment with safety-officer override, a shift compliance dashboard, and alert thresholds tuned for your site — reducing false alarms without reducing catch rate as the model learns your site's patterns.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Do we need to replace or add cameras?

Usually not. Banao deploys the model on your existing CCTV wherever the camera positioning gives a workable view of the work area. The Discovery Sprint maps coverage gaps; where a critical risk zone genuinely has no camera, we specify exactly what is needed — not a blanket upgrade.

How are our site-specific PPE rules configured?

You define the rules — helmet required in zone A, hi-vis and gloves in zone B, full face shield in zone C — and we configure detection classes and alert thresholds per zone per camera. We refine on your actual site conditions during the Discovery Sprint rather than applying a generic checklist.

What happens when the model flags a false positive?

The safety officer on the dashboard can clear an alert and mark it as a false positive. Those corrections feed back to reduce the same error in future shifts. The model improves with each week of site data without a full retrain.

Can this integrate with our existing permit-to-work system?

Yes. Banao integrates with your existing permit-to-work platform so the model knows which zones have active hot-work permits and which do not, and cross-references a camera alert against the live permit state. Legacy PTW systems are the normal case.

How do we handle footage for regulatory and insurance purposes?

The system indexes footage with compliance annotations — violation type, zone, timestamp, shift — in a format your safety team can export for regulatory submissions and insurance root-cause reviews. Retention policy and access control are configured to your site's data governance rules.
